Visual Design Case Study
In this case study, we will examine Hoodmaps, a collaborative online map that allows users to tag and color-code neighborhoods based on stereotypes, vibes, and local culture. While its crowdsourced approach makes it playful and engaging, Hoodmaps also reveals a number of visual design flaws that limit clarity, accessibility, and overall user experience. By analyzing its current interface and presenting redesigned alternatives, this study highlights core principles of visual design and demonstrates how they can be applied to create a more intuitive and impactful digital product.
